Nestbox making with Fermain Youth Club

9th May 2008

Wildlife Explorer Leaders joined the after school group at Fermain Youth Centre to build some nestboxes. Everyone had lots of fun and when the nestboxes were complete we chose suitable trees around the grounds to put them up. The children can now watch out to see if the nestboxes they made are used by birds like blue tits and great tits to build their nests and raise a family.

Groups busy building their nestboxes.

The group proudly display their finished nestboxes.

Macclesfield Wildlife Explorers provided the nestbox kits and tools, and their Volunteer Leaders were on hand to explain how to put the kits together and help erect them in the most suitable places.
