RSPB Big Schools' Birdwatch
Bosley St Mary's CofE Primary School
Wednesday 20 January 2010

Bitterly cold winds didn't discourage the school children at Bosley St. Marys from joining in with the Big Schools' Birdwatch.

The children used identification charts to help them find out which birds were visiting the bird table. They used binoculars and a telescope to watch a variety of birds including blue tits, a robin, a dunnock and a blackbird.
Although there were large numbers of house sparrows in the school grounds they were very hard to spot in the thick hedges and evergreen trees. They were even harder to count!

Volunteer RSPB Wildlife Explorer Leaders were on hand to explain how to use binoculars and 'spotting telescope' safely, and to help with bird identification.
