Congleton Beavers & Cubs - Inland Water Birds
Wednesday 4th May 2011

Leaders from Macclesfield Wildlife Explorers visited Congleton Beavers and Cubs,
to talk about Inland Water Birds, in preparation for their Camp at Tatton Park.

Inland Water Birds

The group learned how to identify some of the different birds that might be seen at Camp.
We looked at common water birds like Coots, Moorhens, Mallards and Canada Geese and more unfamiliar birds like Great Crested Grebes. Leaders also explained the easiest ways to tell summer visitors like Swallows, House Martins and Sand Martins apart.

We also made 3D ducks to help everyone identify Mallards, Goldeneye and Tufted Ducks.

We played games to help us remember some of the birds and to show how Kingfishers feed their young.

Good Luck Congleton 1st Beavers and Cubs
with your bird spotting and have lots of fun at Camp!
