Sunday 9th October 2011

Macclesfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers' Feed the Birds Day event 2011
was held at Tegg's Nose Country Park Visitor Centre.

Feed The Birds Day
Our event gave visitors
the chance
to make bird feeders
from logs and pine cones.

A great selection of bird food was also on sale.

Visitors made brilliant nestboxes.
Small birds will roost in them at night during the winter months
before nesting in them in the spring.

Our Junior Leaders were busy promoting our Save Birds of Prey campaign.
There were Birds of Prey pin badges on sale and Bird ID charts.

Some of our Phoenix members helped visitors plant wildflower seeds to take home with them.
These flowers will attract insects next year and provide
a valuable source of food for our feathered friends.

The Face painting table was busy as usual producing lots of fabulous 'bird tattoos'.

Birds really need our help as the clocks go back and the nights draw in.

This special day reminds us about all the things we can do to help birds
and other garden wildlife through the winter.

The RSPB run lots of Feed the Birds Day events across the UK,
both on the day (October 29th) and in the weeks leading up to it.

Please remember to Feed the Birds in your garden this winter.
