Marton Nursery
Thursday 10th November 2011

Leaders from Macclesfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers visited
Marton Nursery to talk about bird song
and how to look after the birds in our gardens.

Marton Nursery

We listened to the songs of some common garden birds:
Robin, Blackbird, Blue tit, Song thrush and House Sparrow.
And we played a game where we all made bird noises and flew around the new nursery carpet.

We learned that birds need food, fresh water and somewhere safe to build a nest.

Everyone had fun mixing up lard and birdseed to make pine cone feeders to take home.
These will be great food for the birds in our gardens as the weather gets colder.

At the end of the session we watched a film about the birds that the RSPB helps all over the world
- our favourites were the penguins.
