Big Schools Birdwatch 2012
Pupils at Rainow Pre-School braved heavy wintry showers
for their Big Scools' Birdwatch 2012.

We learned how to recognise different wild birds and their different songs.

Then we learned how to count birds for our Birdwatch and how to use binoculars safely.

During the Birdwatch walk down the lane we heard a Magpie and saw several Black headed gulls
in the field. We also counted a fantastic 15 Jackdaws, and saw a tractor!

As the Leaders left the sun started to come out and so did the birds!
They heard a Blackbird, House sparrow and Robin as they packed the car.

Volunteer RSPB Wildlife Explorer Leaders were on hand to explain how to use binoculars
and 'spotting telescopes' safely, and to help with bird identification.
