Big Schools Birdwatch 2012
On a bright and sunny day, Kings School Lunchtime Nature Club
met in the grounds to do their Big Schools' Birdwatch.

On the playing fields a mixed flock of 67 Black-headed gulls and 29 Jackdaws was the star attraction.

A walk by the edge of the wood, where a Sparrowhawk had been seen hunting earlier,
produced Blackbirds, Blue tits, Long-tailed tits, Woodpigeons and a brilliant Jay.

Volunteer RSPB Wildlife Explorer Leaders were on hand to explain how to use binoculars
and 'spotting telescope' safely, and to help with bird identification.
